New research indicates that 51% of people admit to not reaching the NHS recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise. Signing up for a fitness charity event is a powerful motivator for 37% of Brits, with 77% continuing their training even after completing a fitness challenge or charity event.
To inspire the nation, Jill Scott has launched her own charity challenges with H&B for Sport Relief, setting a trio of trending fitness challenges on social media for the whole family. From one-legged squats to balance and coordination tests, everyone can share their attempts online with #TheMovementMovement and donate to Sport Relief.

Introducing a new afternoon quieter hour to help shoppers
Morrisons are extending their popular shopping Quieter Hour, to help turn what can be a daunting task for many people, into a calmer and more enjoyable experience.
Morrisons first introduced its Quieter Hour in July 2018, welcoming people through its doors who may struggle with music and other noise associated with supermarket shopping. Extended Quieter Hours will now also run between 2pm – 3pm every week from Monday to Thursday, with the aim of helping even more customers.
During Quieter Hours the majority of Morrisons stores:
- Operate lower levels of lighting
- Turn music and radio off
- Avoid making tannoy announcements
- Reduce movement of trolleys and baskets
- Turn checkout beeps and other electrical noises down
- Place a poster outside to tell customers it’s Quieter Hour
The initiative, which initially took place between 9am and 10am on a Saturday and for the first hour of trade on a Sunday began as part of the National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour campaign. Some neurodiverse people, including autistic people, can find shopping in a supermarket overwhelming, with many people experiencing sensitivity to light and sound, such as loud music, bright lights and busy environments. This can cause anxiety or in the worst cases, physical pain.

Who Let The Dogs In? - Coffee#1 did!
Coffee#1 has gone doggy friendly, welcoming well-behaved pooches into designated areas of the store.
We could not be more delighted with the overwhelmingly positive reactions we have had to this recent announcement, and we are really enjoying all the photos customers are sending us of their good dogs enjoying a ‘puppyccino’* with them in their favourite spot.
Eligible stores will have signposting advertising a dog friendly area and will provide water bowls and the occasional treat for our new 4 legged customers.
For anyone concerned that this will impact the atmosphere or cleanliness of the stores, do not fear. We have a strict policy in place ensuring that the doggy area is away from all counter and food prep areas, and have provided guidelines to our baristas on what to do should a dog be poorly behaved in store.
We are confident that our new dog-friendly crowd will enrich the current community of loyal Coffee#1 customers who make us so pleased to come into work every day!
